I believe that beauty lies in change.
My name is Kyoko Takeuchi, and I hail from Kiryu City in Gunma Prefecture, located in the heart of Japan. Kiryu City flourished with its textile industry, where I developed a deep appreciation for Japanese traditional culture, the beauty of kimono, and the concept of wabi-sabi, thanks to the wonderful people I met there.
I find profound beauty in the changing nature of life. I adore cherry blossoms in full bloom, yet the sight of their petals falling evokes a sense of wabi-sabi and fills me with a warm, indescribable feeling. As a child, my parents frequently took me on domestic trips, allowing me to explore local crafts. I was enchanted by the exquisite traditional arts displayed in souvenir shops—beautiful vessels adorned with intricate flora, fauna, patterns, and just the right touch of gold leaf.
I believe that beauty lies in change. Everything in the world is in constant flux; nothing is permanent. The reality of life is that being born means we must eventually face death. This awareness inspires me to live my short life with honesty and joy. My work emerges from a desire to cherish every sensation I have experienced.
